Damen Shipyards successfully launched the new DP2 cable-laying vessel Nexus by Ship Launching Airbags on 30 June 2014 which was built by Van Oord’s in Galati, Romania.
The launched vessel ” Nexus” was developed by Van Oord and Damen jointly with a beam of 28 meters around and a dynamic positioning system equipped. Also, vessel of Nexus was installed with a huge cable carousel with capacity of over 5,000 tons. Its offshore crane could ensure it lay heavy safely and long export cables. The accommodation of this vessel will up to 90 people.

The master plan of Van Oord has been offering Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts to offshore wind farm developers.
The first operation of Nexus will be in the spring of 2015 to Gemini wind farm at 55 km off the cost of Schiermonnikoog.
