Hydraulic burst experiment is the ultimate test for the ship launching airbags performance, material, manufacturing technique and structure type. Hydraulic burst test also can be used to confirm the safety working pressure.
Bursting test is the basic test item for the type approval test of ship launching airbags. Because of the high cost and lacking of confidence of airbags’ performance, there isn’t any manufacturer do this burst test with the regular products. Generally they employ a small size or special type airbag to do the hydraulic burst experiment and then infer to all sizes.
6.6 Bursting test
6.6.1 air bags shall be tested to the minimum burst pressure as specified in table 3
6.6.2 Fill the air bags with water until the ship launching air bags bursts. The water pressure at the time of bursting shall equal or be more than the value specified in table 3.

Ship Launching Air Bags Burst Test
At the request of research department of China Shipbuilding Industry for the amendment of CB/T3795 and ISO 14409, Evergreen-Maritime did this “Hydraulic burst test” with regular ship launching air bags.
Diameter 1.5m ship launching air bags burst:
Diameter 2.5m ship launching air bags burst test:
The burst pressure is far over the requirement of ISO 14409. By this burst pressure, we define the “Safety Working Pressure” of YT-6 type Evergreen Marine Airbags with 1.5 m diameter as 0.12 Mpa. The safety factor also is far over 3 required by ISO 14409.
Section Comparing of Burst Airbags
The below two sections are from the “Wrapping Air Bags” and “Common Air Bags”. Comparing the texture, you will find different.
Holistic Wrapping Technology. Evergreen Maritime challenge conventional “connecting production technology”, and “surface wrapping technology” of ship launching air bags, and finding creative “holistic wrapping technology”. Levels of lifting capacity increased 20%.
